Drawing A Blank
By Cooper Ehlers
Working on poetry
Only blanks coming to my mind
Poem is due tonight and time is ticking away
I should have eaten dinner
When mom gave me the chance
But now the food is cold and spoiled
Nothing is coming to my mind and I can’t think
I can’t concentrate and
Nothing has come to me except for this
This is all that I have so I’m gonna make it work
I’ll use this poem to explore my mind
I’ll use it to give myself a thought
You may think that I can’t
But this poem is my imagination
Empty for now but you'll see

The Beach
By Emilija Stojanovic
My favorite place,
my second home.
The place where all my worries disappear,
and everything seems fine.
The waves crashing,
The summer heat burning in my skin.
The soft sand through my fingers.
Either day or night,
whether I'm in the water or looking up at the dark sky,
It's where you can find me.
The soft breeze blowing,
they salty smell going through the air.
The cold water, cooling me off.
With each new day that passes,
my patience grows weaker,
counting down the days,
until that first day of summer.
Flowers
By Nicole Bartels
One day a little girl was walking home from school.
She didn't have any confidence and thought she was un-cool.
The little girl didn't have a very good day.
She really liked this boy but didn't know what to say.
Today the boy had flowers.
When the little girl saw them she began to feel sour.
She knew he must have bought them for another girl.
The little girl really wanted to hurl.
As the girl was walking, she started to cry.
Then, from behind her she heard a voice say "Hi".
The little boy smiled and handed the flowers to her.
He said "Will you go out with me?" and she smiled and said "Sure".
Poetry in Motion
By Carolina Paredes
Just let the music take you,
In the way it makes you.
Feel suspended whenever you leave the floor,
Just so happy to be able to soar.
Like an angel, such a glossy swirl;
Just so you can be capable to twirl.
From a very nimbly pirouette,
Into a wonderful swirling silhouette.
High on Pointe, muscles stiff in your toes,
Just so you can maintain and make your pose.
With your body sculpted, statuesque
To make a beautiful arabesque.
It’s hard to be poetry in motion,
Especially with disciplined devotion.
To create a thing of beauty and romance,
In my opinion is to dance!
About You
By: Keira De Nicola
An emptiness still lingers in my heart,
Memories of you come flooding back, back from the start.
Why can’t I just move on?
You are still first on my mind when I wake up at dawn.
I tell myself no, I’m not going to fall,
Yet sometimes inside me I feel this burning call.
A call to you, and you alone,
I sometimes feel the need to phone.
Then I catch myself, myself in my own lap,
I remind myself that there’s no going back.
The heartbreaks you gave me multiple times,
Tore my heart into pieces as small as dimes.
Things will never be the same,
You’re still playing your same ‘ol game.
You were my first love, not gonna lie,
Yet, moving on may include a sigh.
I guess we just weren’t meant to be,
Yet my heart is hurt, can’t you see?
Sometimes I wish we were still together, then other times I don’t,
Get hurt again, baby, this time I won’t.
Life is going by so fast, its passing me by,
I keep holding on to our memories not wanting to say goodbye….
The Sky’s Miracles
Lauren Farello
A blanket of warmth spreads over me,
This blackened July night,
Silence my only companion,
As I gaze peacefully up from the green lushness
At the silver glitter in the softly
Sprinkled night sky
The vast and unending city
Explodes with life and possibilities
As I close my eyes
And yearn to reach out and grab
The unbroken promises and
The endless opportunities
If only I could stretch a bit farther,
If only I could climb a little higher,
Then everything would somehow
Be okay and no one would suffer
I want to be like them
The ones filled with unspoken power,
The things everyone puts their trust into,
When one travels and disappears in the sky-
The ones filled with confidence
And no fear in their eyes
But now I realize that only
Those treasured pieces of gold
Can be that full of bravery and life
So here they are:
They will wait like an anticipating mother,
For that special human soul
To close those flowers that we call eyes
And put their faith in the miracles
So now, all you have to do is watch.
Watch them change your life,
Like they did to mine.
If I Won the Lottery
By Jesse Humphries
If I won the huge lottery
There’s a lot I would do,
But it would not be bright pottery.
Let me give you a clue.
A big, modern house would be nice.
And many expensive, fast cars.
No worries about the high price,
I could fly to the Moon or Mars.
But it’s not all for me,
There would be millions to share,
To divide with my family,
With still some to spare.
Cancer, the poor, clean air, and pets.
I would donate to these.
Pay off family debts,
And in Israel, plant trees.
Of course this is a fantasy
That I hope will come true.
If I win the lottery,
My new life will debut.

The Internet
By Max Mendoza
Click, click, click
You’re in
What’s there to do in this place anyway?
Play games, buy anything, and, draw
Sell anything, communicate, and watch
What is this?
Someone wants me to buy that?
I don’t need any of this
Why are these closing in on me?
Get out of my way
Let me play this game
What can I do now?
I am going to draw a picture
This place is pretty addicting and fun
I am coming back here more often
Popularity
By, Timothy Nunez
Everyone wants to be the popular one.
But what does popular mean?
Popularity is just being well known by others.
There is bad popularity and good popularity.
Would you want to be well known as the kid who picks his nose,
or the kid who gets bad grades?
Do you want to be known as the suck-up,
or the mean kid,
or the kid who lies?
So you have to ask yourself these questions.
Do you want popularity that badly?
If so, who do you want to be well known as?
The Galapagos
By Sophie Leahy
The animals, plants, and people
All so unique and cultured
You'd think tey's open a steeple
How can a place be so stunning
That you and your family
Would never take off running
This is one of my favorite places on Earth
A place so great
That it doesn't have worth
It's a place that changed me
And the way I think
To be so in touch wit nature
That you can't sleep a wink
I Don't Want To
By: kaitlyn Hafdell
I do not want to clean my room
I cannot close the door;
Theres so much junk pilled here and there
I cannot see the floor.
I do not want to cut the grass
It's almost one fot high;
And the weeds are so abundant
I just don't want them to die.
I do not want to do my work!
Have I got that clear to you?
I'll get it done some other day
Have I got that through?
The Big Game
By Nikolas Kessler
The big game that you have been for,
You have been preparing for this your whole life,
This game you play, will be played like a war,
The pressure is so sharp; it feels sharper than a knife.
Everyone has been counting on you,
And you can't let them down,
You know what has to be done; you know what you have gone through,
This is the time to represent your town.
The only thing that matters right now,
You don't want to taste the defeat or shame,
Winning the glory is the only thing you will allow,
This is your time to walk on to the field; it's time for the big game.

Hot summer days
Cruising the streets
Pushing wood
on the streets of LA
Near collisions with cars
Running from the cops
This is how I spend
My long summer days
Sunburns
Roadburns
And lots of fun with your buddies
This is how i spend my summer days
Come home
the airconditionings on
I pass out.
This is how i spend my summer days.
Wake up at 12 AM
Walk out the front door
meet up
Skate
this is how i spend my summer nights.
Cruising
By Julia Rappaport
Cruising is a time of fun
A time to start something new
Relaxing in the sun
Or swimming in the pool
Unique experiences lead the way of
You vacation of fun
In a floating city
Things you may never expect possible.
Sailing the seas
While surfing or rock climbing onboard.
Interesting new people
To meet on this floating city
Nothing surprises the crew
They know what they have to do.
Great experiences
On this trip of a lifetime.
Summertime by Valerie Fernandez
It comes so fast,
yet comes so slow.
Once it has passed,
only memories can flow.
The cold lemonades
in sun warmed rooms,
my long hair in braids,
no time for the brooms.
Long days at the beach,
tanned cinnamon skin,
so slurred is your speach,
when you get to sleep in.
Wish so hard it could last,
but you know it will end,
look back, you had a blast,
with that one special friend.
Television
by Brandon Goodreau
The television is an American way of life
Everybody owns one and watches it frequently
On the Tv
There are many different types of shows
At any one time you can watch
A movie, a play
A soap opera, a drama
Sports or even music videos
Parents always talk about the three TV channels they had
Now there are thousands with many different things
Television can change peoples opinions on many different things
Some people believe everything they see on Tv
And the shows convey opinions that everyone then believes
I sometimes wonder to Tv producers control the country
